The beach

What could be better than walking along a beach with the sand between your toes, the wind in your hair, the sun beaming down on you and the sound of the waves crashing on to the shore? Is there anything that could make this feel any better? The answer is the company of your best friend, your dog, of course!

Everybody loves a holiday! So why should your pooch miss out? Instead of paying to have someone look after your dog while you are away or go to the expense for them to board in kennels, take your dog on that family holiday. Whether it is a camping trip in the countryside or a going to the beach for the weekend (or even if it’s just for the day) it has become more and more socially acceptable to take your dog with you. As society has become more dog-friendly so do dogs joining the social aspects that many humans enjoy.

The beach can be the perfect place and a great way to teach your pup how to swim because it is shallow and allows them the option to turn back if they feel nervous. Also, you and your dog can both go for a paddle together- a great bonding opportunity!  If your dog sees you paddling, it can encourage them as well as giving them reassurance that it is okay to go into the water. If you know an expert doggy swimmer then why not bring them along on your trip too so that it will give your dog the confidence to follow in the ‘paw prints’ of the experienced dog. Should your dog venture out into the water then remain vigilant as the currents in the sea can overpower even the strongest of human swimmers.

Dogs love the beach as much as we do. The joy of playing and romping around on the beach with your best, furry pal will strengthen that unique bond within the family even further. Research the best dog-friendly beaches and follow the guidelines given so that your dog has the opportunity to enjoy the beach too.
